Paper Engineering

Alongside my interest in origami has grown an interest in paper engineering -- that is, the combination of folding and cutting on the same sheet. In some ways, folding and cutting are opposites: folding contracts a sheet, whereas cutting expands it, so using the two together can create forms impossible to achieve by folding alone.

The two main ways I have used paper engineering are as pop-ups and as packaging, though I have also used it in other ways. Please use the links below to visit galleries of work.
